Alice DeFazio to Coach Lady Knights Basketball

Alice De Fazio

Respected Marist High School girls’ basketball coach, Bill DeFazio’s wife, Alice, will make her late husband’s legacy continue when she begins her first year as Head Coach of the Marist Lady Knights this year.

Coach DeFazio has head coaching experience with Montclair State University and St. Dominic’s Academy. Athletic Director, Larry Arico said, “Alice is not only a great coach, but a great person and will continue to lead our basketball program with pride and respect, while serving as a positive role model for our girls.”

“I was thinking about it and I said, ‘Yes,’ as long as I was in a volunteer position,” DeFazio said “I wanted to make sure that there was no conflict of interest with my full-time job.” “Marist has always been part of the DeFazio family and I look forward to continuing what Bill did for these kids for so many years,” continued DeFazio.

Alice DeFazio is the athletic director at NJCU in addition to the head girls’ basketball coach at Marist, leading a successful program that plays its home games at Marist on a court named the Bill DeFazio Court.

Assisting DeFazio will be Erica Cubile, who was an assistant at New Jersey City University, and Pete Vincent, who also has college coaching experience at Centenary College in Hackettstown.
