November 2011
Dear Family of Marist High School,
I am writing to you with deep gratitude. We appreciate your commitment to Marist High School despite the difficult economic times we are faced with. We are greatly encouraged by your generosity and faith in the Marist mission. Because of your generosity, Marist High School is preparing its students for a successful future.
With your continued assistance, the administration, faculty and staff can continue to provide an exemplary Catholic college-preparatory education. We are humbled that although many worthwhile charities ask for your assistance every year, you have made it a point to help Marist students. For that, we are eternally grateful to you.
You are the catalyst that helps Marist High School move forward as an educational institution. With your involvement, Marist High School will not only carry on, but continue its great tradition of preparing students to become productive and successful citizens.
Sincerely,
Laurel Weir ’93
Annual Giving Chairperson

The Marist High School Annual Fund was established to assist the school in financing general needs that tuition alone cannot provide. Gifts to the Annual Fund are unrestricted and as such, they are dedicated to areas of greatest need within the school. The Annual Fund funding year begins on July 1 and concludes on June 30. Gift support is sought from the Marist High School Community, including alumni, faculty and staff, parents, alumni parents, benefactors and friends.
To keep the rising cost of tuition as low as possible, giving to the Marist Annual Fund typically may be used for:
Ways to Support the Annual Fund![]()
You are invited to share in the mission of Marist High School by your generous gift to the Annual Fund. Please consider a gift in the following ways:
Giving Cash
A gift of cash is the simplest and most frequent form of giving. Cash gifts are fully deductible for income tax purposes. Cash gifts may be pledged over the course of the funding year, running July 1 through June 30.
Giving Stocks
A gift of appreciated securities held by you more than one year offers you two tax-wise benefits: an income tax deduction for their fair market values, and avoidance of capital gains tax on their appreciation in value. Please contact the Marist High School Finance Office, at 201-437-4545 x204, for information.
Knights In Need
For more than 50 years, Marist has educated many students who have gone on to be productive, influential members of today’s society. Through the Knights In Need appeal, we hope to allow more students to complete their Marist education, after which they can go on to college and become the next generation of Marist alumni making an impact on society. The objective of the Knights in Need appeal is to have individuals support our tuition assistance program by donating $1,000 that will go directly to our students’ families who have been affected by the current economic downturn.
Giving Life Insurance
You may name Marist High School irrevocably as the owner and beneficiary of an insurance policy on your life, or you may donate an existing policy already in effect, particularly if your family no longer needs the policy for financial security upon your death.
Bequests
Planning a legacy gift to Marist High School through your will may be an attractive option for benefactors, depending upon personal assets and family considerations. Several ways exist to make a gift for the future, including:
Your gift through a bequest, regardless of how modest, is always important and appreciated. In strict confidence, please consider sharing with us news that you have made provision for Marist High School in your estate plans.
In-Kind Gifts
Non-cash gifts of useful products, equipment, materials, company products, etc., enable Marist to save the equivalent value of the same products donated, thereby reducing budget expenses.
A gift to the Marist High School Annual Fund can become an ideal way to honor or memorialize a family member, friend, classmate or other person who merits special appreciation. Memorial and/or tribute gifts benefit the Annual Fund and also provide special recognition to a deserving individual.
Many corporations encourage philanthropy on the part of employees. The corporation donates a dollar gift amount that equals (some companies may double or triple) the dollar gift amount given by employees and retirees and their spouses. To determine matching gift eligibility, contact your company’s Human Resources or Benefits Office for information and to obtain a matching gift application form.
Complete your section of the form and send it to Marist High School along with your gift to the Marist Annual Fund. The form will be processed and forwarded to the address specified by the company.
When your company’s gift match is received, Marist will credit the company for its gift, and add the same dollar amount to the amount of your gift thereby doubling your gift.
Please contact the Marist Institutional Advancement Office for additional information.
